It is worth mooring up near here, as you have done 7 hours cruising. Day 6 The canal is very wooded around here, the woods becoming very thick, the overhanging tress making a tunnel through which the canal passes. The Oxford Arms is a ½ mile from the canal in Kirtlington, the lane to it is to the left of Pigeon bridge The Grand Union Canal crosses the Chilterns and the narrow Oxford Canal has the Cotswolds to climb so there are plenty of locks. There's fine scenery too and interesting villages to explore. The Kennet and Avon, a canal and two rivers, links Bath with the Thames and London, crossing some of Southern England's finest countryside.
